    During a tumble dry cycle the E10 signal came up. a problem with water supply according to the handbook. We started the cycle again and got the same result.

    I ran the machine in normal wash cycle which worked fine, no problem with water supply.

    I then started the machine in tumble cycle, this time the pump cut in as normal but then the machine rotates the drum one way a couple of times, stops then does the same in the other direction, this continues without change (I had left it doing this for at least 15 min). During this time the LED “cycle time remaining” counter remained fixed not changing.

    I then started the machine in normal wash cycle and turned the water off, this did not produce the E10 signal this time.

    Can anyone point me in the right direction? 🙂

    Yep, check the inlet valve as the dryer uses a different part of it from the wash cycle 😉

    OK, I’ve looked at this but decided not to dismantle the valve just yet just in case I break something and then not be able to wash anything (family of six, can’t not be able to wash)

    Can you tell me what does water inlet have to do with tumble drying?

    Which part of the valve relates to the tumble function?

    If I replace the valve with a new one will the machine require resetting by an Engineer?

    No! a new valve will cure this fault 😉
