Participanthi all i have read the posts for the warm fridge problem with the mistral but i am gettting a bit confused .
the fridge has stopped working freezer is fine .
the fan at the very bottom of the unit on the right hand rear is working
the fan in the freezer compartment near the top at the back is not working
it spins for a short while when you power up then stops
does this sound like a thermister problem .
i ask this because another poster replaced the thermisters and still had the same problem of the fan spinning for a short while .
is there any way of checking the thermisters is it possible to bypass them to to see if it is them causing the fault. i am pretty sure the ducts are clear
the door switch is ok as in the light goes out when you close the door
many thanks robJanuary 2, 2006 at 9:15 am #159464Simon46

I would replace the Evaporator thermistor first. Unplug power if you are going to have a look yourself :zap:

it only seems to d othis with the door open
door shut the fan dosent start
thanks

You could test thermistor with meter but you would not know the resistance values at which temperatures the thermistor is at. The fan will do that as it is in a test routine if power is applied with the door open.
Replace the thermistor. Or get a man who can at Repairs@.Regards

bad to worse now compressor wont start at all now think i may have disturbed somrthing taking the back panel out checked the thermal fuses
they check ok
checked the connectors for the thermisters
metered the freezer thermister is about 3.4k at room temp
would a dodgy freezer thermister stop the compressor working
if i open the door and power on the compressor starts for a short while then stops
any ideas
think it may be a trip to the sales
thanks

Hi,
3.4k sounds about right for kitchen temp in this weather.
However, it seems the evap thermistor can suffer from an intermittent “thermal fault” at temps at or around below zero.
See my post here viewtopic.php?f=33&t=64812
Don’t worry about the compressor / evap fan not coming on as expected. I had both these symptoms with mine. Fixed it for just over a quid. 😉

cheers for that sputnik compressor is working ok now after leaving powered off for a while .
i am unclear on your fix about the resistors in parrallel i assume that would give 2..2 k this is what the evap thermister is showing now so i dont undersatand how it would work unless ive missed something
thanksJanuary 3, 2006 at 1:17 am #159472mav12

thanksHeh!
That was exactly the reading I got with my evap thermistor when it was exhibiting its “fault condition”. It would eventually switch back to normal readings. I am 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure your problem is this thermistor!
Keep us posted on how you get on!

This is not advisable. Fit the correct part available at http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Refriger … istor.html. Job done! 🙂

i will fit the proper part was going to try this to see if it was the thermister
but gets up this morning and fridge is working 2 deg
freezer -22
thinking back this all started when i put a large frozen leg of lamb in the fridge to slow thaw was wondering if maybe this fooled the fridge into thinking maybe it was too cold -
