    Hi

We are having a few problems with our Hotpoint WM52 First Edition 1000, firstly the drive belt keeps coming off, although this is relitively easy to put back on it is a bit of a pain?

Secondly and a bit more importantly the washing machine keeps tripping the electrics.

When you start a cycle the washing machine fills until the water reaches just under the level of the door at which point it blows the electrics. It works on the spin cycle but the same happens on the rinse cycle.

Could this be a heater problem? or is it more likely to be water leaking in to/on to something it shouldn’t, or something else entirely.

It also sounds like the water is draining out the back as it is filling.

On top of this it is making a lot of noise on the spin cycle which I am guessing is a problem with the bearings?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    L.

Oh dear….sounds like the drum bearings have failed big time i’m afraid…the belt slipping off is due to the excess play in the now destroyed bearings and i suspect the drum has moved so far that is has caught the element which is now causing the trip to go.

Depending on the extent of the damage it’s questionable whether it is worth bothering to fix.

You might try finding an engineer in Repairs@ to give you an estimate, but brace yourself it won’t be cheap!
