    Hi,

I am looking around for a new fully integrated washer dryer but I’m a bit uncertain as to whether the above mentioned brands are good.

I like the Miele WT2679i but this integrated washer/dryer does not seem to be able to support my own door.

The Siemens WDi1440GB looks good but has an Energy rating of C it also looks a bit too deep for comfort but I’ll double check.

The Smeg WDI16BA has a 1600 rpm but I don’t know whether Smeg is a good brand.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    THank you

    Laurence.

    Twould be my choice!

Don’t worry about the C for energy rating. That’s good for a washer/dryer 😉 If it fits, get it (IMHO).

    Hi Laurence

As far as performance and build quality is concerned then I would go for the Miele everytime. You can achieve an almost built in look with it by adding the height adjusting kit. However as yo say you cannot fit a wooden door, but it does have a full length feature door (not the same I know). The 5 year guarantee is good too with a life expectancy in the region of 15 to 20 years it`s a good buy.

The Siemens would be my next choice. The C rating is more than good for this type of product. Two year guarantee on all Siemens products subject to registration is good.

Smeg appliances I am not all that au fay with, but I expect someone will see this thread and respond.

The Siemens has 1400 rpm spin whereas the Smeg has 1600 rpm.

Is this an important consideration? Also, why are you not that happy with Smeg? Are they considered an inferior brand?

Whilst I’m at it, can anyone tell me what brands I should definitely steer clear off?

    Thank again

    Laurence.

Smeg? Over-rated, IMHO. The gap in quality between the Siemens/Miele and the Smeg is a big one!

1400 is spinning too fast already 😯

1600 is just taking the micky! That will cause some serious drum problems during the machines life 🙁

    😆

    Indesit
    Ariston
    Hotpoint
    Hoover
    All the cheap stuff!

You get what you pay for, and looking at the models you’ve picked out already, your on the right lines 😀

Washer/dryers are notorious for poor reliability, so the Siemens/Miele is the best choice for trouble free washing.

Ps. If you ask engineers for their opinions, they will always pick the reliable choice 😉 We don’t care how it looks or washes, we care about if it works!

Try the Neff V5340 which is from the same stable as Siemens which is slightly narrower on the depth at 578mm (might make a difference) 😉

    Probably the only choice 😉

I was about to ask about Neff and whether they were any good. My concern here is price.

I currently have a Zanussi washer/dryer built-in which has been going strong for 10 years. Still going but I’m going to get a new one before in conks out.

I don’t know how the Zanussi is rated but it’s been quite good.

Don`t go too cheap as GB said in one of his previous posts about the makes to avoid.

Still stick with the Neff / Siemens or the Miele which over the years will work out cheaper than buying a cheaper model now.

The Zanussi of 10 years ago was in my opinion better than the current models.

Thanks for your replies, they are appreciated.

I cannot go with the Miele because it does not allow for a furniture door to get it to blend with the rest of the kitchen (her in-doors wouldn’t have it).

The Siemens/Neff machines I believe are a still a little too deep for comfort and it would be a very tight fit, which worries me since I’ll be installing it and I’d prefer the extra manouvering space.

The Smeg appears to fit in fine, though.

So I ask, would this be a decision I’d regret. Are Smeg machines rated at all? Is this a bad decision?

    Thanks in advance once again

    Laurence.

I still believe Miele is perhaps the better option as far as Siemens go. They are expensive and I do agree on that 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} compared to the Whirlpools and others.

I suggest you should visit http://www.inods.com for more reviews on washer dryer, I came across a very good review for Miele. Once you have made up your mind, then maybe you could head to dealclick.co.uk for real good deals…hope this helps! 🙂

    ?

The first thing I saw on that site, was a ‘5-star rating’ for an Indesit intergrated washer/dryer, which is the worst piece-of-crud machine on the market! 🙁

A lot of the model numbers on there are now old ie Hotpoint WD64. If you scroll down a little further Gb the Miele which was listed only got a measly two stars and that is also an old model too. For the latest information and all the thousands of years experience this site has to offer look no further 😀

I wonder how many years experience there is on this site between all the trade members? I bet it would be a very large figure 😯

They work well enough, but they seem to be noisy blighters and prone to some quite extreme vibration problems, especially if mounted on a wooden (suspended) floor. With a fully integrated machine, this will set you whole worktop a-rattling……

You might like to add the CDA integrated washer dryer to your list – a Siltal-built appliance, reasonably shallow in depth and good value for money.

I think Mr. P meant to end that message with…

“But CDA aren’t as good as Miele/Siemens!”

    😉 😛
