I have a an Ariston washing machine which needs the bearings on the drum to be replaced, but I can’t find which kit I need. I’m also not sure if U need to replace the entire spider assembly or just the bearings and seal.
Here’s the details (I bought this model in france, hence the FR on the model number)

    Year 2002/2003
    Model ADL120 FR
    Type number LB2000C
174000696.04 written on spider assembly at back
Written on bearing: Poland PPL 6205Z

    Spider assembly : http://www.electricbox.co.uk/electric-item-681624.html

I’ve searched google all over for anything that would give me a UK equivelent model and think it may share the same parts as on W113UK or AWD 12 or possibly Margherita2000

If I can avoid buying the entire assembly (I don’t think I need it, plus all links seemed to lead to comet or espares who don’t have the spider any more ) then I’d like to know what bearing kit I need, and where I can buy it from.

I’d also like to locate a service manual.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Phil

Bearings 6205 and 6206 should do it, along with seal C00082696. Check drum shaft for any signs of wear or damage – replacement involves an entire drum assembly.

Service manual – even we can’t get service manuals 🙄 .

W113 has 6203 and 6204 bearings so I think the likely kit you need is this one

Um, Dave, Oh mighty Spares Captain – he can see a 6205 as the back bearing in the cross piece………

    Sorry……. 😀

I know, the bearing kit in the link has a 6205 and 6206, I was pointing out that it isn’t in fact similar to the W113, sorry I didn’t make myself very clear really 😳

Re: Ariston ADL120FR Washing mach bearing kit-determining mo

    Thanks all,

    I’ll order that kit then.

I guess if I browse the forum a bit I might find instructions on how to do the bearing and seal replacement. Is there an FAQ for this type of replacement?

I’m hoping the drum shaft isn’t nackered, trouble is we’ve been using the machine for several weeks in this state.

I don’t consider an entire drum replacement worth the trouble (I’m guessing it’s a very involved and expensive job). So what happens if I order these bearings, take the old ones out and realise it needs the shaft replacing? Can I return the new bearings unopened?

Thanks again for your great help.

    Phil 😀

I would strip it down before ordering to be honest unless you don’t mind paying carriage both ways of course.

But yes, you can return unopened 🙂

Ok, I found a thread that sounds similar to this one,

    viewtopic.php?f=33&t=5315

Although the advice given isn’t from a ukw engineer it sounds comprehensive enough. Yes I will wear gloves. I’ve built PCs before, and they suffer from the same problem of nasty sharp edges.

I don’t have a bearing puller though. Is one absolutely necessary to do the job, or could some bits of wood and a hammer sort it out ❓

    Cheers,

    Phil 🙂

Not really no, in fact you’d not need one at all for this job 😉

Re: Ariston ADL120FR Washing mach bearing kit-determining mo

I’m having difficulty getting the star-shaped T40 bolt undone that holds the pulley on to the drum shaft. I’m attempting to undo it with the star attached to a socket wrench but it just doesn’t want to move. I don’t want to force it any more as I’m worried It’ll round it out. WD40 hasn’t helped either.

Should I be using a special tool or what?

I hope it’s not a left hand thread!

    Cheers,

    Phil

It’s an RH thread. Most of us use heavy duty automotive torx bits for the job – the extended ones are useful as they allow you to give the bolt head a good clout, helping to shock it free. It’s Loctited on as well as being tight.

    Good Luck,

Re: Ariston ADL120FR Washing mach bearing kit-determining mo

I finally got everything undone using cheap useless chines tools, I should know better.

Anyway, got the spider off with a lot of heaving and thought I should ask for advice on the condition of the drum shaft as penguin45 said in a previous post that if that’s worn then a complete replacement is necessary.

This is what it looked like before cleaning. (Dead hotline removed)

After cleaning I noticed it seemed pretty rough and is also black where the inner bearing sits. (Dead hotline removed)

I took this one without the flash, and you can see loads of pitting and scoring, but I don’t know if that is too far gone. (Dead hotline removed)

I’d be happy to buy a new machine anyway.

Ih yeah, and as for the bearings, it’s just the inner one that’s shot. I think it was killed by rust. I’ve not even attempted to get them out as both sets seem to be firmly placed in the spider and I’ve had enough for one day!

    Cheers,

    Phil

Not sure about others but I cannot view those pictures.
Try posting them via putfile or similar.

This is the message I get when I try to view.

Sorry that the images weren’t available.

(Dead hotline removed) I’ve made a page that contains all 3 images here which you should now be able to see.

    Thanks in advance,

    Phil
