    Hi,

    Can anyone recommend a new microwave.

    Needs to be
    1000W minimum
    Freestanding
    Easy to use
    No combi/grill/convection stuff – just a microwave
    Must easily cope with a 28cm plate, with 16cm height

    By preference
    Stainless steel

    Flexible on
    Budget – would rather stick below 200, but it’s not a constraint
    commercial/domestic unit

    Primary use
    We will be using it for sterilising baby stuff, heating food from frozen, defrosting, canned soups.

    All suggestions will be gratefully received.

    Hi,
    Would I be right in assuming from the lack of response, that either there are none that fit the bill, or that microwaves are such a commodity that it matters little which one I should buy?

    Anyone got any favourites?

    I suspect none of us are particularly clued up on commercial stuff – we mainly sort out domestic appliances.

    Many thanks for that.

    I’m not bothered if it’s a commercial or a domestic unit. If there is a domestic unit that you can recommend, then I would love to look at it.

    I thought there may be better value in the commercial world since they are probably geared to higher use, the aesthetics are similar to modern kitchens (stainless, metal buttons etc), and I thought the user interfaces might be more appropriate to the limited functionality I need. That said – I don’t have much of a clue about this stuff.

    You could try AWI microwaves who have a good range of commercial ovens, although they are trade to trade supplier.

    Samsung produce a reasonably priced commercial microwave oven for light use CM1049 comes with a three year warranty.

    Sharp also have one with a slightly larger cavity which has a one year warranty model R21AT.
