    Model ER7626B
    Type B258870
    Prod. ID 925887601
    Serial No. 13500073
    Refrigerant R134a

We noticed on Thusday pm that the food in the freezer was starting to defrost and the fridge too warm. Turning the control knob to max. for an hour made no difference. Found this forum and read the posts and decided to switch off and leave the doors open overnight. Switched it on again at 16.00 today. The compressor is running, the fan in the freezer is running and control knob on 6. Ater 6 hours the fridge temp is 14C and the freezer temp is 6.3C.
The fridge/freezer is 3years 2 months old with no previous problems.
Can anyone help with a solution or suggest what may be faulty?

    Hi

It seems like you may have a restriction in the refrigeration system which will require an engineer as its not home/diy fix.

With R134A it is a very common problem.

    Re: Electrolux fridge/freezer problem…

As this fridge/ freezer is out of warranty I decided this morning to switch off and remove the back panel inside the freezer. The top of the evaporator had a thick coating of ice the rest of it was not iced at all.
The condensor on the back of the fridge/freezer is cool except where the pipe exits the compressor which is very hot as is the compressor. Is this indicative of a restriction?
Is this likely to be an economic repair out of warranty?

That would confirm Bryan’s thoughts in that case 😉

Spoke to a local engineer Tuesday (by phone). After hearing the symptoms and asking further questions he confirmed your thoughts that it was a restriction or refrigerant loss.
After discussing options and costs involved to repair have decided to dump it and go buy a new one.
Thank you all for your help.
