ParticipantIs the only repair for the worn out motor brushes also blown toc new motor? 🙁 . Does this mean that the armature is fried as well? No burnt or visible high segments.

Is it not possible to squeeze a TOC17 into these motors, it may not cure the fault but it would save spoiling a good motor.

I don’t think the Bosch motor has a TOC fitted as such? I believe it is a in-line fuse (current rather than temperature)????
If the armature meggers to infinity it will be fine, usually it is just the brushes shorting to earth that blows the fuse (TOC). The chain reaction can also lift and blow a couple of tracks on the module board too. (which can be resoldered with link wire anyway 😉 ).
The later series motors don’t have any fuse fitted and that is why when those motors ‘blow’, they take the Control Module with them!!! 😯
Bosch’s standards are dropping with each new model that comes out 🙁

I’m with Jim on this one – been fiddling Toc17s into the brush plate for years.

Tags are soldered to the brass – they will prise off, the actual TOC is held by two melted plastic blobs. I use a skinny tyrap to secure the new one with no problems.

A strip of Baco foil perhaps. 🙂
