The latest invention from Dyson will see the company move into the hand-drying industry, it has been reported.

According to cnet, the vacuum cleaner company is to release the Dyson Airblade – a hand dryer that takes the water of a person in seconds.

The air travels out of the dryer at some 400 miles per hour and while the drying area is quite small, its motor spins at around 90,000 revolutions per minute.

The device will set people back close to $1,400 (£700) when it goes on the sale in the US and the company will market the product at cinemas and hospitals.

And John Churchill, managing director at Dyson, has claimed that the dryer is more efficient than Mitsubishi’s equivalent and that its popularity looked to be quite high.

“People were literally queuing up to have a go,” Mr Churchill said.

Along with Hoover, Dyson is known for its work in the vacuuming industry, in which it helped to popularise the ‘bagless’ vacuum cleaner.

  1. Used one at Meadowhall in Sheffield a month or so back (guess they are trialling them). They really do dry your hands in seconds.
