ParticipantHi
I have a Servis M0330W frost free F/F, serial # 20051413449-038077070-03.
The fridge is freezing the food and the inside fridge thermostat control dial twists all the way round without stopping. Freezer is fine, compressor and fan both working.
Upon opening and taking apart the thermostat housing, I found that the flexible plastic clamps on the end of the plastic rod which hold the control dial to the metal disc inside the thermostat body, have broken. (the metal disc which now falls off appeared to twist under the spring mechanism operated vent cover).
It appears i need a new plastic rod part to the plastic control dial, but I’m unsure if another part has also broken off which I cannot see, or if I will be able to re connect the parts and line them up with the thermostat to enable them to work accurately?
Would I be better off replacing the whole thermostat unit or just the plastic dial parts ?
In either case where is the best place to order the parts please?
The thermostat has the # D1072 414 on it, A.T.E.A.
Any advise would be appreciated
thank you

The thermostat itself has a metal “D” shaped shaft so that should be OK and easy enough to re-align.
I have no picture for this model, is there a chance you could email me a picture of the broken parts please and I’ll try an identify that way ? 🙂

Thanks Dave
I’ve just mailed some pics for you.
Ive realized how the parts go back together now. The flexible catches on the end of the grey control dial rod, when intact, must be square on two of their sides to stop them turning all the way round once sat in the receptical opening which has two straight sides, otherwise there is nothing to turn the receptical with?
The metal receptical shaft is round so it must be the flexible plastic catches on the control dial rod’s end which take the strain on turning the dial, but they look as though they were thin and vulnerable hence they’ve snapped.
The only thing i dont understand is how does the thermostat rod operates the vent cover? Does it expand/contract and pull on the wire ?

Basically yes, it expands and closes the vent stopping cold air entering the fridge.
