About a month ago, my servis M0330s fridge stopped working. Following advice from this forum, I checked inside the freezer and (as expected) there was a large amount of ice built up behind the back panel. Melted this with a hairdryer, put it back together and all works fine.

Now the freezer’s stopped working properly – it’s stil pumping cold air out from the vents into the freezer compartment, but the temperature in the freezer compartment is only down to about -4 C rather than the -18 C or less I expected.

Anyone got any ideas what this could be?

    Thanks,
    Paul

It’s probably over-iced again which would indicate a defrost problem.

If it has then it will have a fault with either the defrost heater, defrost probe, thermostat or possibly the PCB which may require an engineer. The repairs@ link below should provide one if required 🙂

Power off if checking yourself please :zap:

Cheers, I’ll check to see if it’s over iced later today.

It was iced up somewhat again (not as bad as before) .

Would it be possible that these problems could be caused/made worse by there not being enought airflow to the back of the fridge freezer? It seems that it had been pushed back against the wall – could this cause the compressor to cut out and therefor the temperature to rise?

Possibly but it’s more likely there is an underlying problem with the defrost cycle to be honest but it’s worth a try 😉

It’s getting worse…. the freezer compartment is now running at a fairly stable fridge temperature, and the fridge is a slightly cooled cupboard.

The one thing I have noticed is that the main compressor unit is getting hot, but the heat is not circulating to the coils on the back of the unit.

Any idea how much callout charges are for this kind of job? Not wanting to spend loads only to hear that it needs to be sent to the scrapyard.

It varies quite a bit to be honest, between £30 and £50 as a rough guide. You can discuss that locally before comitting to a call of course 🙂
