    Dryer stopped rotating but motor humming in background. Removed drum and tried giving the motor a spin – stood back and switched on (while motor still spinning) – the motor ran ok. Tried again from standstill motor will not start. Anyone any idea what’s happening?

    The capacitor has failed by the sounds of it, if you read this post:

    Scroll down to where Ade says “Hello Again !!!?” 😀 that’ll help with identifying and getting the part. Power off when checking please :zap:

    If you’re unsure, check the repairs@ link below for an engineer 🙂

    Thanks Dave, I’ve checked out the white goods shop and spotted a universal 7uf capacitor. Mine is rated as 7.5uf would it make much differnce to use a 7uf instead?
