Been to customer to confirm thermostat problem but as usual it’s working fine when I get there. Customer says it seems to be sticking in the defrost cycle and by turning the defrost timer on it comes. Could it be the defrost control stat and if so has anyone a part number.
Thanks RickJuly 1, 2006 at 10:23 am #180462gegsy

Im not familiar with these so bear with me.
Is the defrost timer the usual type, if so when it “sticks” is there still a feed to its motor?
The usual defrost timer motors used to go weak after some usage, and they lost the strength to turn off the defrost cycle.
Worth a check anyway 😀Greg

Hi Greg
Timer is the old blue and white Sankyo type TMDE812C. Didn’t get time to check circuits as when I was removing the evaporator cover to check defrost heaters etc the freezer sprang back into life.

Sounds like the usual suspect then 😉

Do you have any part numbers available or an equivalant.

Masterpart’s UN53133 is described as a “Sankyo type” so that should do the trick 🙂

Thanks Dave. Haven’t got account with Masterpart. Can I order as a one off? I mainly trade with Connect and Part Centre to suit my needs.

Type “Sankyo” (without the quotes) in to Connect’s website, there’s a few there.
Masterpart won’t supply non account holders but I can get it for you if required, about a tenner with post etc.

Cheers Dave, let me know the final cost and how to pay and I’ll go with that. Checked on Connect but numbers didn’t match from what I could see. This timer is TMDE812C (8313)

Masterpart’s description doesn’t give the type number either to be honest but most timers are quite interchangeable, just check the contact details.
If you PM me your address etc I’ll get it sorted.
Dave.
