ParticipantHi all, I have an F&P smartdrive 500, model number GW500B-K. As far as I could gather from this forum I pulled a diagnostic code by holding wash temp down and pressing the power button. After a second or so, the top 8 LEDs, from right to left, starting from spin, read 00100100.
Not to sure on the failure mode, apparently when my girlfriend was using it, she started a normal wash, but then after some indefinite time it reverted to a different wash cycle and started beeping.
Appreciate any replies, here or to mike_bold at hotmail dot com.
Thanks

Fault code indicates water loss(Leak)
IE The motor controller has needed to top up water level more than 4 times.
Cause can been from siphoning Check drain hose height
Other cause /check for leaks underneath washer around pump& shaft area
In some cases it may be faulty motor controller (Main PCB)August 15, 2006 at 8:30 pm #185130Boldy

Thanks for the information. Haven’t noticed any water on the floor or anything and I’m pretty sure its not siphoning. Faulty motor controller. Sounds omnious!

End of drain hose must be above the highest possible water level in the drum, creating an air gap. Possible that there is a pin hole in the air hose to the water level sensor – ensure machine is fully drained if you remove it to check.

Participantok now that I’ve got home and checked, the drain hose is ok. I put a empty load on, it filled up ok, but didn’t drain completely and doesn’t spin.
Holding wash temp down and pressing pwr button results in firstly the wash level low light on plus 00100100. If I press the advance button it changes to the wash level high + low lights on plus 00010000. What does this mean?
Also where abouts is the drain valve located?
Thanks for your help guys,

00010000 Indicates Display/Motor controller out of sequence
Turn washer off at wall and on again after 10orso sec
Restart washer
If fault appears again have disable restart feature
Enter diagnostics washtempdown/power Use water level down button to turn restart on/off
Low water level indicator off=restart off
Low ”” ”’ ”” on=restart onRetest a new fault code should come up
Note washer will not spin until water pumped out
Pump is under washer bowl Power off if you fidddle with thisAugust 16, 2006 at 8:12 pm #185134Boldy

Thanks for the info. One step at a time, how do I empty the machine of water? I take it there is an easy way rather than bucket or siphon the remaining water? Must be some sort of drain valve or something?

No such luck 😀 . Hose in the bucket as low as it will go will get rid of all of it eventually. Or, use diagnostics to run pump only – Hold wash temp “down” and the “power”. Press “regular cycle” to run drain pump only.

riiiiight got the water out ok, took the pressure switch tube off and blew threw it. This seemed to clear a little water out, so I tried another empty wash. This time the water drained, and the machine spun up ok.
I’m still getting a couple fault codes however. The first one has changed to 00000100, and the other one is 00010000.
Also noticed that the drain tube does infact have a hole in it, and it was likely that this had a small leak inside the machine.
Can someone diagnose the first fault code for me? Thanks again

OK Bad news
Ist Fault code 00000100 communication error
Motor control fault
Can try turning on/off at wall but if faults again
Likely source motor controller
00010000 Display/motor controller out of sequenceLook if it needs motor controller for this older model scrap him

ParticipantRe: F & P SmartDrive 500 GW500B-K, found donor machine
Hi y’all. I’ve managed to find a faulty machine, the same model as mine, that I was hoping to get some parts off. The failure mode on this machine is that it won’t spin. Pulling diagnostics from it I found a 00100100 (water level low light) and a 00000010 (water level low + high light). Possible that I might be able to get a control module from this?

Ist Code is pressure sensor fault
Check that pressure tube is intact(Clear tube that connects to motor controller/then runs down to outer bowl
This is your best case
Other than that faulty motor controller
2nd fault code indicates faulty display moduleAlso is the washer just not spinning IE Does it fill ,wash advance Etc
The machine will not spin until it pumps all the water
