ParticipantHi all
Our 7 year old washer keeps sticking on cycles and not going on to rinse.
I have read through this site and others and I think it is too old to have electronic load balancing. Looking at a few of the posts on here it looks like it needs a new pump.
I am reasonably competent with electronics but would it be cost effective to repair the washer or is it time for a new one?
Thanks
Nick

Hi Nick
It could be faulty fill valve, heater or thermostat also. Pump if required is around the £53.
In what way does it stick ie- what can you see and hear?
Un plug appliance if you are going to fault any further :plug:Greg

Thanks for quick reply.
It sticks as in the dial gets to a certain point (usually a or b) and then all that happens is that the drum just fills and drains as if it is at start of the cycle (good job we’re not an a water meter).
If I manually jog dial on it kicks back into life.
Tonight I had to mess around for ages to even get the washer to go past the fill cycle.
Thanks
Nick

Hi Nick
Sounds like a possible blockage in the fill pressure system and/or timer problem.
Without being hands on its hard to tell 😕
You may want to consider an engineer. Please use the link below to find one.Regards

Just had some good news: after checking all our warranty info it turns out that we registered for the Whirlpool 10 year parts guarantee.
I phoned Whirlpool to make sure we wouldn’t get stung for labour, etc and all we pay is £72.50 and that covers all the labour costs until the problem is fixed.
Looks like a good deal so I will go with this option unless anyone knows of a reason not to?
Thanks
