ParticipantHi,
I’ve been through this Forum over the last few days trying various things to sort this pain in the neck dishwasher out and I still cant get it to work. So, before I phone an engineer I thought I’d ask the experts.
Last Sunday evening we had just put the dishwasher on and after about 30 mins the power went off in the whole house. Something had tripped the switch. Put it back on, everything fine. Until about four hours later I realised that the dishwasher was still going, it was stuck at 0:01. Basically it wont finish a cycle and there is no heat. It leaves water in the base just above the bottom floor but when I reset the dishwasher on the front panel it then empties so the pump seems to be working. I have had all the filters out and and unscrewed the part above the small wheel inside and cleared all the gunge out. Thought this would do the trick but no luck there. Then I read about the problem with the PCB and the faulty solder. So, I dismantled the front but no obvious blown solder, everything looked fine. I’ve checked all the pipes at the back, everything clear. I took the side off and found lots of crazy stuff underneath including what looked like brown gunge in the clear plastic tubes. Thats where I got stuck, I could see no way in??? Please Help!!!
Could this be the cause of the problem and does that explain the no heat problem or do I have a faulty heating element that needs replacing and if so can I replace it myself and most important of all……….. where the hell is it??
I’d really appreciate any help that you can give even if its just to confirm that I need to ring an Engineer, washing up all night is not my favourite past time!!
Cheers.

Hi
If you remove the lid and r/h panel, the heater will be as you face the r/h side; just to the right of the re circulation pump. It is an instantaneous heater box (plastic)
You would expect app 30 ohms on its terminals.Un plug appliance before attempting any repair :plug:

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the speedy reply. Would that be something that someone with little electronic knowledge could replace, like me?? Is it just a case of connecting up the wires? Where could I get hold of a new heater and do you think thats what is causing the problem?
Cheers.
Chris.
PS. I tried a Dishwasher cleaner in it last night and once again it didnt finish its cycle and then small bottle containing the liquid wasnt even emptied which must prove that its the heater?

Hi
You would have to use a multi meter to check heater to confirm, changing it is a different ball game and even we struggle.
If the cleaner bottle wasn’t emptied it could be
a/ Insufficient water (Numerous posts about this one)
b/ Blocked spray arm/sIf in any doubts of your ability please use the engineer link below on my sig.

Hi Greg,
Thanks for another Speedy reply, if only people like BT or Bosch could be so organised as you guys are everybody would much happier!!
Spray arms are all clear and there is plenty of water whizzing round in inside and at the bottom. The small bottle I put in has one of those wax seals on the lid, this would obviously need heat to melt this to release the liquid, it must be the heater I reckon.
I will contact an engineer from your list – many thanks again for all your help!
Cheers,
Chris.

No heat fault can vary from model to model. Post yours up, it may help us to help you. 😉

Sorry for not replying with an update – heater failed. This was replaced by a local engineer – all working fine now.

It’s the same model as MrO. Mine sits at 1minute toward the end of the cycle. it’ll stay like that for as long as i leave it. if i then press the standby off for about 10 secs and turn back on it will go back to about 18mins or so, but not actually do anything. It doesnt look like it finishes the rinse cycle as it left residue on the glasses as well.
I’ve called an engineer out for webnesday next week as i doubt there is anything i can do.

It can be a faulty solder joint on the module, but I would guess that MrO would agree that if it is the heater itself it is most definately not a simple DIY job.

Participantwhats the cost for that, any ideas? Also, why doesnt it finish the cycle? i.e. just sitting at 1min indefinately.

Participantwell it appears the filter was well and truly blocked. so he has come and gone, i put it on a normal wash cycle (auto) last night and it got stuck again!
This is a whole new problem. it’s now showing 105 on the display. i dont know if that is a error, or if it’s got stuck in the cycle. when i opened the door, there was no water in there and the tablet had dropped out. it was making a noise like a motor whirring. and constanly showing 105 on the dial.
any ideas to this new problem that the dishwasher man (may) has introduced? he’s coming back next week but if he’s snagged the water hose or something maybe i can sort it without having to take a day off.
please help.

opening an old thread as it’s the same dishwasher (model is the same as the OP’s)….it just started working again after we left it switched off and unplugged for about a month. Right before we were going to dump it back in 2007 we tried it one more time. It’s been working ever since. Until now that is.
I’ve had the side off cleaned it all out but it refuses to move through the cycle. It seems to get stuck in Washing mode. Then it’ll get to rinse after an age and there it will stay with the timer saying 001 (which is the error code from what i can gather, rather than time left).

Is it heating?

incredibly, after taking the side off, taking the bit out that has the microswitches, giving it all a good wash (not the electrical parts), plugging it all back in, its all working again.
They were not blocked or anything, but whatever was the problem, it’s fixed again.
