    Hi
I am a complete amateur and need help to fix the on/off switch of my Hotpoint washer/dryer which has almost collapsed inside the control board on the front of the machine.
I just need to know how to open/remove the front control board (the one with all the dials and switches on)?
    Many thanks!!!

Oh dear! That’s still covered by a 5 year parts warranty by the way. (Hotpoint would need to be called to sort that though) 😕

The switch you describe is all part of the main control PCB (part No 1604899 – about £80 !!) Has the machine been mistreated or damaged in transit for that to have happened I wonder?

Access is after removing the top panel and the dispenser drawer by the way.

No I think damage was just due to usage, I pressed the button and it just went inwards and then almost fell in the gap behind the control board. Called Hotpoint but they will not be around for another 10 days and I would like to sort the problem myself or at least try…
How do I remove the top panel and access the switch?

Top panel or lid : remove 2 screws at the back, gentle raise the panel at the rear very slightly whilst giving a sharp tap (with the palm of your hand) to the front of the lid to release it from the lugs that hold it against the front control console.

I’m fairly sure you will need a complete new control panel as mentioned before though. Tampering with the machine may well invalidate the guarantee don’t forget!

    Softly! Softly!
