Ive got some problem with my dryer – when i turn it on it starts drying and heats up the drying light is lit, then it goes into the tumble without heat but then it dosent heat again and the drying light dosent come on again, its then just spinning and not really drying the thermos havent gone because i get heat at the begining but it stops after a short spin. Any ideas? 😥

There is another thermostat, hidden inside the upper door frame that can cause this, plug out if you intend to have a look.

    Re: Hotpoint TDC60

You have to use the correct electrical test equipment to check it, it can sometimes fail intermittantly so it may appear to be fine when cold, this is also true of the stats above the heater. There could also be a fault in the timer, not common but it does happen.

Part number for door stat is 1701575, an e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should do the trick.

    Re: Hotpoint TDC60

Difficult to guess from this distance. Mains temp control stat could be at fault but it rarely causes this complaint. Small copper brush that runs on top of drum can have dropped off, worn away or lost contact with the drum. There could be an intermittant fault in the dryness module although again the usual fault on these is the heater relay sticking on rather than off. Due to the cost of this module I would suggest getting someone to check it out first. Try the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help. Plug out at all times when you have your hands inside. 😉

Ive checked inside and the brush is incontact with the drum and is running ok.
It seems to be the white box behind the led lights which im assuming is the timer, i can hear something clicking like theres a loose connection sort of thing but ive checked the connections and appears fine, any other ideas as i would like to repair myself if i can..

Have you checked the earth strap at the back of the drum bearing?

    Re: Hotpoint TDC60

At the back of the machine there is a small square cover that protects the rear bearing, held on by two screws. Inside this cover is a small copper contact that supplies the earth connection to the drum. Make sure that this is in contact with the drum shaft.

The earth connnection supplies the return feed for the electronic dryness sensor.
