ParticipantHi Guys,
been out to this Servis w/m 1600 spin speed. The machine cabinet sides vibrate excessively when there’s a load of any description in it.Has anyone come accross this problem and is there a fix. I have already changed the backplate and bearings and motor. By the way Service technical say it is because it is on a wooden floor, but customer said it did the same on a concrete floor in they’re last house. Any help appreciated thanks.

Have seen a number of these under guarantee and just put it down to the design. How long have they had the machine? The fact it’s the same on concrete as well as wooden flooring would indicate they have had the problem for sometime or even since they bought it! I think you may be fighting a losing battle. (perhaps packing the sides with foam would help)

Hi Tim,
I think it is a design fault that Servis won’t admit to. It’s like some of the earlier Hotpoint machines that needed the sticky tar patches stuck to the inside of the cabinet.

sticky tar patches are great for fixing vibrating side panels, motor spares suppliers sell them for door panels etc.

Oh dear, so thet’re not getting any better then are they? 😥
What I used to do is stick a piece of accoustic carpet to the cabinet where that horrid grey spiral fill tube from the valves ratles agaist it, also make sure that the motor bolts are really tight as the rubber bushes vibrate like a good un!
Top weight is another point of concern especially if stainless tub as spot welds break.
To be honest theres not alot more can be done and no point in throwing mega bucks at a cheap machine, I just accepted that the price reflected what they were and if customers pay S*1T they get S*1T! They were greatfull we’d turn up and try!! 😆
On the slower spin machines i also found that the clampband came loose on the backplate 💡
I know we all knock the merloni but lets be glad its not Domar!December 5, 2006 at 6:04 pm #196154timdowning

Servis machines have moved on a fair bit since that range, no more backplate clamp bands, no more loose bushes on motor, less module failures. Generally a better machine.
