Our Neff Circotherm oven (model=GB-1056.71 HCS Enr=195304875 FNr=6304) has given us nearly 20 years of almost trouble free service but is now tripping our 30mA RCD. This is caused exclusively by the main oven (i.e. not the grill) and only occurs when the thermostat opens or closes, so it is not related to the fan.
Clearly there is a small intermittent leak of current to earth somewhere.
Typically it trips once or twice during each use, so the oven is still useable. In fact, apart from this, the oven is as good as new.
I am tempted to replace the element – I did this once before many years ago when it failed (on Christmas Eve would you believe!) but of course it may not solve the problem.
❓ Could the leakage of current be coming from the thermostat itself?
❓ Can anyone offer any advice?
Many thanks.
