ParticipantA bit of an off chance that someone may be an expert on boilers as well.
When the heating is running we get a noise through the house (intermittently), that sounds like a B52 doing loop da loop above the house. Please help its driving me nuts. Baxi Genesis 80 combi.

KeymasterAirlock? 😉
IIRC you’d have to bleed the system off or do some mad plumber trick with the hot tap that I can’t quite recall. 😕

Air in the system would be my guess, try bleeding the rads of air and see what happens 🙂

OR has some dimwit put some of the radiators the wrong way round upsetting the regulator valve on the radiator, I know this because I have had some dimwit do this 😆

B52 eh? My old Potterton does a cross between the Concorde and a single engined Cessna whenever the header tank runs low. (It’s got a sticking cock don’t ya know, I must get up there and replace it before it starts to sound like a B52 😯 )
Bleedin’ radiators all the time I am….. 🙁

Cheers for the replies Gents 🙂
For the first few days I genuinely thought it was a prop plane doing airobatics as we live near a few airfields 😳 . Weird noise!!!

exactly like martin said, ball valves allways seam to stick on the expansion tanks on heating systems especialy during the summer months. make shure it aint seized up and see if the tank is empty. also try adding a chemical cleaner to the water to prevent boiler and pump noises traveling through the system. cant remember the name of the stuff i last used on a customers heating system but it does work. helps make the system last longer too

The pressure guage for the system is faulty I think. Opened the tap for a couple of seconds before Chrimble and the noise has gone.

ohh its a combi boiler 😀 sounds like ur diverter valve may be on its way out. ur gonna need a boiler engineer to replace the pressure gauge and check diverter valve you may need the system flushing or simply an adative adding to one of the rads to help clean the system either way dont leave it too long if that valve does go you loose hot water heating may still operate

Yep thanks, been fine since. 😀
I think a new boiler will be purchased over the next couple of months though. It looks a little battered from the previous owner 😥

reminds me of a flat i just been working on a young couple lived in it previousley and when the lady found her boyfriend was cheating on him she kinda ripped out the toilet and sink smashed every door in the place destroyed plasterboard walls and all sorts 🙁 luckly the chap who moved into the flat after the last lot moved out had moved in after it was renovated 😀 i think the only thing that survived that girls temper was the boiler.
