ParticipantHi Guy’s,
You helped me once and I hope you can do it again. My Indesit WD12x washer dryer has suddenly got very noisy, basically when its doing anything! I have checked in the drum for coins and around the rubber seal etc and can see nothing. The drum turns by hand freely without any noise but when its starts to spin / wash etc there seems to be a horrible noise coming from the front of the machine just below the door although the machine keeps working and no funny smells or smoke etc.Any ideas?
Thx

Hi, Nope the concrete looks intact. Had a closer listen and it gets louder the faster it goes, it sould like its between the drum and somthing?

Ok, Update. Just had the back off it (power off of course) and if I spin the drum fast by hand I get the noise. AND, there is play in the drum so I think the bearings are going!
Its an integrated machine so I would prob have to either repair or replace with the same type I guess.

Replacing the drum bearings and water seal is an option although a lasting success rate is usually just a few months. Because the main drum shaft is the main reason for the failure in the first place and unless that shaft is replaced you will have a reoccurence soon enough. Sadly the drum shaft is not available as a replacement part as it forms part of a complete sealed drum assembly costing over £100. The cost therefore is grossly uneconomical in the extreme. 😥
So as I see it, it’s bodge in a new bearing kit and hope it works for a while, or dump the whole machine and buy something decent! 😉

If your moving soon then best get bearings fitted as being the cheaper and more convenient option?
