    hi Guys

I have a problem with my Hotpoint Iced Diamond Fridge freezer model RF64P. The fridge and freezer appear cold (still frosting in the freezer) but nothing is frozen. When I turn the thermostat in the fridge compartment there is no “click” nor does the fridge make any sort of starting noise. The red light is showing on the outside to say its too warm.
I have “tapped” 🙂 the thermostat area of the fridge and it appeared to start working (like when a starter motor in a car is jammed)
Does this sound like a thermostat problem? Also does the thermostat control the freezer as it appears the problem is with both compartments?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Neil

No not a thermostat problem, more likely a coolant or compressor problem? Is the compressor motor running?

It doesnt appear to be. This may have been what started coincedently when I tapped the thermostat. Is the compressor situated at the rear at the bottom? Would a gentle tap release the motor?

I have this fridge freezer out in the garage. Would the recent cold spell affect the coolant / compressor?

Yes the compressor is the large black motor at the bottom. It may be that the start relay has jammed/failed and the motor not kicking into life? In any event I think that area is were the fault lies?

:zap: You are reminded that it is dangerous to attempt any inspections without first turning off the power…. :zap:
