A suspected gas leakage from washing machine assembly plant of Consumer Electronics multinational Samsung in Noida Phase-II has caused panic across the region. The gas leakage affected more than 60 workers who were later rushed to the hospital.
Condition of five workers, as per hospital sources, is critical while some are out of danger and being discharged.
The company has ordered enquiry into the matter while no police case has been registered yet. Senior Superintendent of Police A K Singh said, “We will properly investigate the cause of the alleged leakage and then register a case.”
Dr. Sarika, in-charge of the emergency ward, said that critical patients are being kept under constant vigil. She added, “They complained of nausea, vomiting and dizziness; many of them had fainted. These are symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.”
Samsung’s washing machine manufacturing plant, having worker strength of around 100 employees, reported the incident at 4.30 pm when some workers complained of uneasiness and some became unconscious.
It seems Samsung aren’t having much luck with gasses.
