ParticipantAnyone having a problem with the platic pulley and belt being fitted to current HP/inds washers, I have been to one today to re-fit the belt, only to be informed by the customer that this has happened 3 times under Gtee. Hotpoint eng, advised that they should watch the loading of the machine 😕 I advised the customer to get back onto HP and complain that the machine is not “fit for purpose” 😥
My opinion is that the pulley is “warping” under stress and throwing the belt off, the original metal pulley was far superior 😥

Check to make sure that the black plastic mount is in place on the back lug of the motor. Had one only yesterday. The pivot was loose which meant that the motor shaft is not parallel to the pulley and hence the belt runs off the end of the shaft.

Have you tried a new belt. If I go to any WMA model, metal or plastic pulley and the belt is adrift I always replace it.

Hi Jim
My first thought was to change the belt but I checked it every which way and then some, absolutly perfect. Re-fitted it and checked the alignment of the belt on the pulley, motor pulley, nothing. I cannot comment on the three visits from HP and if they changed it, I am sure they must have.

I would always replace the belt with a new one and remove one of the drum lifters to check for any foreign objects in the drum.

As a rule i lways replace a stretch belt, and as bob says check for foreign bodys in the drum, if you refit old belt you will prob’ly be back sometime to refit it again, as for the plastic pulley i’ve never had that causing it, thats not say this one isnt.
