A Royton family had a lucky escape when their kitchen was destroyed by an exploding fridge.
Barbara Taylor was in the living room of her Wetherby Avenue home when the drama unfolded.
She said: “I was watching TV when suddenly there was one hell of an explosion.
“My brother had just been through the kitchen to put the rubbish out but luckily he wasn’t in there at the time.
“It has wrecked the kitchen but the house has been tested and is structurally safe so we don’t have to move out.”
An investigation has been launched into the cause of the explosion.
Details of what fridge it is have not yet been published.
