Bolton based white goods company DRL Holdings Limited has announced the completion of its purchase of Expert Logistics Limited, the white goods home delivery specialists based in Radcliffe, Manchester. DRL is the largest online appliance retailer in the UK, selling refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, cookers and dishwashers direct to the consumer. The company runs various stores for clients such as Sainsburys, Boots and others.
DRL will be investing heavily in the development of the systems currently used by Expert to increase the choice of delivery times and dates available to the customer at the point of order and enabling them to track their deliveries.
Steve Caunce, DRL’s finance director says: “Distribution is a key element of DRL’s retail arm, and given the volume of business the company now delivers, being able to control distribution has become essential.”
Mr. Caunce continued to say “customers are quite rightly demanding more from home delivery and DRL will continue to take a market leading position in providing the highest quality of service. Enabling the customer to choose when their new appliances will be delivered and then allowing them to use technology to track their order will be an essential part of home delivery in the future.”
DRL’s acquisition will see Expert continuing to operate as a separate group company, but with new, improved services in place that will benefit the distribution offered by all of the company’s existing clients.
DRL have taken over ownership of Expert from Iceland Frozen Foods Ltd, and customers of all Expert clients will begin to see improvements in their service before the end of March 2010
