We have a 6 year old Amana fridge freezer that stopped working about 4 months ago. Bradshaws- now responsible for the service of this age of Amana have not been very helpful. We had a refrigeration engineer out who said the gas had leaked from it and refilled it with gas but it only worked for less than a day after that. Does anyone know if it is possible to repair. Can the whole thing that makes it work on the back be replaced? The fan is working and the whole fridge freezer cabinet is so huge and sturdy it seems criminal just to trash it, and we can’t afford to replace it!

Re: Amana fridge freezer – HELP

    Hi Nicola,

For a fridge to suddenly start to leak after 6 years is, at best, unusual. It’s possible, but there’s generally always a reason, like it was moved and a bit of pipework was damaged or suchlike. In most cases I would expect to see some physical damage.

The short answer is that it will be able to be repaired, finding a repairer prepared to take it on however is a whole other ballgame as spares are only available from Bradshaws, who aren’t what you’d call cheap and, as you’ve found, not exactly helpful either. 😕

That said, if you’ve paid the chap to repair it, have him back and, if it was one recommended as an agent for Bradshaws you can have a pop at them as well.

    Hope that helps.

    K.
