LG has said that its improved drum washing machines have gained popularity in Europe over the past six months.
LG Electronics has sold more than 10,000 units of the “Big-in” drum washer in Britain, Germany, Spain and Italy since October of last year, the company said.
“Big-in was developed to meet specific needs of European consumers. We plan to bring it out across the European market this year,” said Jo Seong-jin, vice head of the company’s washing machine unit.
The drum washer’s capacity is claimed to be 11kg, larger than European standard drum washers with 6 to 7kg capacities, while saving more than 20 percent on electrical consumption, LG Electronics said. Both of which claims have not been verified by anyone other than LG.
The washer recently ranked first among new equivalent models in a performance evaluation by the Britain-based consumer group “Which?,” the company said.
What LG didn’t say was that the brand’s reliability was ranked as merely “average” by Which? and that that Which? had made some criticisms of LG’s washing machine range.
