    Hi everyone,

A friend has a new Hotpoint VTD20 which is now out or warranty, when its turned on the drum turns anticlockwise and the heater does its normal thing.

The problem is when the timer turns and it hits the reverse cycle the drum stops and the heater continues to heat causing the drum to get very hot.

I have replaced the timer as I thought this was going to be the problem, so I am now thinking its either some fault on the motor itself (although I doubt it) or its the timer PCB mounted on the control panel.

    Help much appreciated !

    thanks

    Rich

There are three timers on this machine:
    Delay – 1702741
    Countdown – 1702740
    Reversing – 1702381

    Which one have you changed?

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply…..

I replaced the main countdown timer (large white click type), I am assuming the reverse one is the PCB behind the control panel as the delay timer is the smaller click one.

You think this is the one I need ?? (The PCB unit) http://www.espares.co.uk/part/tumble-dr … rsing.html

Reversing timer is usually mounted down by the motor – check the p/no on the box your replacement came in.

The timer I bought is def the main countdown one (ie the front upper panel mount), if you are saying the reverse timer is attached near the motor then it isnt the one I have replaced as yet. Now I know it is there I will take the machine apart and check its operation.

Many thanks for your help so far, much appreciated.
