ParticipantThe fridge thermostat only works after sharp application of the wrong end of a screwdriver! There is no “click” as it is turned from min to max unlike the Freezer control which has 2 positive clicks. The switch unit is made by Danfoss with lots of numbers stamped on the holding case. So the question is:
1. Can I replace this by isolating, removing connections and sliding out tube and sensor then relpacing.
2. Where can I purchase the relevant part.
3. Are there any other checks I should make to prove this assumption is correct.I would rather pay for the parts than replace an otherwise excellent fridge freezer.
thanks.

Do you mean fridge and freezer have seperate thermostat?
Is it cooling properly, becuase if it is not cooling the thermostat will not click.
The thermostat will have a K?? no like K59, K50 etc etc on the side
Find that out and let us know
Regards

The stat can be checked with a meter by checking for continuity between terminals 3 and 4 when in the ‘on’ position. Being a Danfoss stat the only number on it will be a long one OB*********** but these are simply known as a kit 3 stat.
Have a look at Shop@ for a replacement, if no luck then an email to Dave_Conway on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will sort it.
Alternative stat that will do the job is a Ranco K59 but it needs a longer capillary rather than the standard one (VT93 rather than VT9 IIRC?)

Previously this fridge worked intermitently.
Have fitted replacement VT93 thermostat to fridge part of Scandinova fridge /Freezer.
Have had it running for a few days and it does not swith off.
Tried it at various settings.Connections are 3-BR live, 6/2-BL to compressor, 4 BR Common.
The capillary went in with no problems and is held by the plate onto the back panel within the fridge. There are no kinks I am aware of.
Switching on the thermostat brings on the compressor.
Any suggestion or more information I can provide.
Thanks

The problem is you’ve connected the new stat up the same way as the old one! Ranco stats have a different numbering system (really helpful)…the live feed should connect to 6, the compressor to 4 and the common on 3. If you look in the box that the new stat came in, often there is a wiring diagram for reference?
Once again, plug out before doing anything :zap:
