ParticipantHi ,i have a stoves oven (050504018), the door glass blown & had it replaced, then switched the oven on to full ok so far untill i went to turn it down i still had a high flame.
then was told it was the thermostat, so had a thermostat fitted yet its still the same, so what can it be.February 28, 2007 at 8:15 pm #205959helo_75

u sure uve put the glass in the right groove?
been to loads where ppl clean the glass, and then put it back in the back groove instead of the front, creating massive heat escape, and the stat dont register!!!
try it, it might be that!!!

ar,two replys, (1) yes the oven glass is fitted in the right place thanks.
(2) this time i left the oven on for about 5 mins & yes it turns down now but the old thermostat turned down in about 1 min can this be right,

Hi patz,
Okay this one isn’t a DIY job, let’s make that clear from the get-go.
You’re looking at the stat, which you say has been replaced, the oven thermocouple or the adjustment of it of, as a totally outside possibility, the flame failure device.
There’s really nothing else it can be IMO.

thanks for the replys so far.Your oven shouldnt turn down after 1 minute no, 5 mins is much more what I would expect,your oven will only turn down on temparature so if the oven hasnt reached the gas mark you turn it to the flame will be unaffected, have you actually tried cooking with the oven rather than just looking at the flame ?

yes it cooks fine, WSTS you say 5 mins is about right then i will go along with that, thanks WSTS & all the other replies,
