    Hi,

I am reposting this but with additional information, in case someone can nail this for me now.

    I have a

    Whirlpool ADG 994 AV
    TYPE: NGLM
    Service Code 8542 994 15420 33 9950 017636

    The problems are :-

    1. The machine does not heat up

    2. It stops just before the end the cycle.

This is the sequence of events:-

You select a programme and hit the start button and the machine fills. However the sequence I expect does not occur. I expect that it will do a rinse, drain, fill again, open the soap compartment, heat up, wash and dry. But that is not what happens. What happens is it fills, tben, for a couple of minutes it runs with the soap compartment closed. Then, without draining, the soap compartment opens and the cycle goes on for about 50 minutes – that is way longer than th whole cycle should take on 40 degrees. It then drains and stalls with the led flashing. If you hold the button a about five seconds it drains a bit more then stops ready for the next “cycle”.

On two forums it was suggested that this might be the ntc, so I changed the ntc. The faults are unchanged. How do I run this down?

    Regards

Sounds like a heating fault to me. NTC, NTC wiring, heater, Heater wiring or PCB are the likely culprits.
NTC you’ve changed so unlikely that this is the fault.
You’ll need to meter out the heater and wiring to rule these out.
If everything tests ok then it’s possible it’s a faulty pcb.

What reading am I expecting from the heater element? What does it mean if it is higherthan expected ? What does it mean if it is lower?

Re: Rob and Dented – I took readings and…

I have put two meters on the heater and I got the following readings.

From the simple continuity meter I got – no continuity.

From the proper multimeter set to 20k ohms I got an odd reading. It read 1 . That is 1, then a space, then a decimal point.

Do these readings tell us the heater is broken?

This thing has a flow through type of heater. When I look inside I see scale build up. It is only about 1mm thick, but could it have caused the heater to overheat at some point? Is there a reset switch somewhere? How do you operate it? I might as well try that first, if there is such a thing.

Hoping I will solve this. Stay with me guys!

    Regards

You should have had continuity through the heater and toc.
Sounds like the toc on the heater has gone open circuit.
    No reset switch.
Looks like a new heater required.
