ParticipantWe’ve recently acquired a VAX Turboforce V-006 from a relative, does anyone out there have one of these, and if so, what do you make to them, we can’t quite use it yet, as it needs a new brush belt, dust brush and turbo tool.

I don’t like them 😕
Saying that, I’ve got one in my workshop for cleaning other vacs, and tumble dryers with 😛
It’s not that there a bad vacuum, it’s the fact that you can’t get parts for them! It’s a Chinese vac, so only the popular stuff is available; belts, filters, maybe tools. But for anything else, your waiting for months for the parts on a slow boat from China.
Can’t be repaired = unpopular with engineers :shake:

Right, okie dokie. We used it for the first time yesterday, and after 5 mins of using, there was a burning smell, just like a burnt rubber smell. I then switched it off and i saw smoke coming out from the underneath, could this be the belt i have just replaced, and what could this problem be?

Beater bar bearings may be knackered and dragging the belt speed down.

Just curious, but how would that create a burning smell?

By causing the beater to run slow – belt will then slip on motor pulley.

You need to pull it apart and have a look first, before trying to hunt down spares. Often beater bars just need a damn good clean and the bearings packing with grease.

Sorted! After taking it to pieces we found a plastic collar where the belt is and it was broken around half of it. My dad and I, took an old plastic container top and machined it into a washer, we then superglued it onto the exsisting collar, and hey presto, i managed to hoover the whole house without it burning. Only £24.50 for 2 belts and a filter set, 1 hours work an old container top and a lot of persistence equals one perfectly good vacuum!

Glad you got it sorted, next time may I suggest you have a butchers at these chaps.
Despite their one or two negative ratings, I woudn’t let that put you off, I managed to get a Refurbished Vax Cadence (1yr Guarantee) for £9.27 + £10 Courier Fee. Delivery was next day by ANC, & I have been very impressed. The same one in Tesco was £59.99.

Rightie o. About the Vax, we have had enough of it, floor suction seems good, but the hose is a different matter. Erh, James Dyson, so cyclonics are powerful eh? I dont think so, bagged are best, our old Numatic Henry still seems to pull the carpet up.
But we’re thinking of upgrading to a Miele one, i preferably like the one on the advert, but the S5210 might suffice, any opinions?September 11, 2007 at 7:40 pm #215591kwatt
KeymasterHi Adam,
Buy a Sebo and be done with it. 😉
Way better IMO than anything else I’ve used and, I’ve used a few vacs over the years. Oh and, they hardly ever break either.
We sell a few in the shop, from this link, but they’re not the cheapest however the best stuff rarely is cheap. It was me that put them there and the only reason that there is only cylinders there is simply because they work better and break less.
There’s also a review of the K3 Premium from this link which is the one I bought on the recommendation of two people here that know a LOT about vacs as well as a consulatant that works for many cleaner companies recommendation.
They were right. 😉
My opinion and theirs on bagless vacs in general is that they are, basically, rubbish.

Sebo, arent they made for commercial apps?
If they’re good enough for that, then they’ll be good enough for meFound the K3 Vulcano in comet for £199.95, but i find it hard to believe that it doesnt have auto-cable rewind and a turbo head for a vac of that calibre, or is it comet telling porkies?
