Participant❓ I’ve had cases recently washers & dishwashers where cold water was supplied from tank in loft (single storey) resulting in intermittent behaviour likely due to time out on the fill.
There seems to be a reasonable flow of water.
Is there any known mod (like a different fill valve)?
Does anyone know of new machines with the all mechanical timer?
Many thanks in advance,

they used to put flow control washers in the valves behind the removeable filters, i used to take them out and that improved the flow but customer must know incase they take machine elswhere with higher pressure smartin

Tom , as far as I know all cold water should be fed directly off the mains water supply. Storage tanks are for topping up central heating and hot water tanks etc.
I wouldn’t want to drink water that came from any sort of storage tank and any appliance should be fed from the same source.ie mains supply.

Unless the have spring water, then you need a tank in the loft.

Thanks for comments.
Situation usually arises in rural areas where water is pumped from a well into a tank in loft. Cold water for drinking & cooking taken directly from the pump line.
As I retail appliances I’ll keep looking for machines (maybe with older technology) to cope with this niche situation.
I’ve been wondering if washing machines with hot & cold fill might have to allow enough (longer) time for filling; a hot fill will almost always be from a low pressure supply.

A few years ago I saw a few machines fed of a cold water tank in a commercial situation. This was done on machines which didnt have the type ‘A’ air gap, to comply with the WRAS regulations.
The customer had bought a domestic machine to save money, so I used to install a Stuart RG25 pressure pump, which solved the low pressure problem.
