Hi All,
Another Bosch dilemma 😥 the model number is SGS45EO2GB/45. Customer recons he sets up a programme for 139 minutes and it stops at 66 minutes. When I visited last week I found the drain pump was restricted, so with the restriction cleared I tested on a rinse cycle (don’t fancy waiting about for an hour 😕 ). This customer has now rang back with the same problem being reported 👿 .
I recon this 66 is not minutes but a fault code, if this is so can anyone enlighten me to the nature of the fault.

I would check the heating circuit IMHO,another restriction/pump fault or quite possibly the aqua sensor maybe gunged up indicating dirty water when in fact it maybe clear, causing appliance to wash longer till the Rx can see the Tx, then it would move on 😕Greg

Sounds like a heater open circuit to me, or it could be that the machine isn’t filling up enough to operate the heater microswitch (note this will only be activated with the wash pump runing), worth checking pressure chamber and hose between pressure chamber and sump for blockages too.
The thing that affects wash time is usually heating faults and wont be displayed to the end user unless you put the machine into a service test programme where a fault code may be displayed.
One thing I have had with these machines fitted with the Sicasym motor is they will not switch to normal running speed (usually after a leak) and run at a low speed, thus not operating the heater switch, but, saying that the motor usually sounds cack! 🙂

Thanks for the comments, the first thing I checked was the pressure chamber and the tube from the chamber to the sump. The tube has a bit of cack in but not to cause any back fill to the chamber, the flow from the chamber into the machine was smooth, not like some with the chamber overfilling (however I have been wrong in the past). I megger tested the heater to be OK but I did not think about checking if there was power to the heater during a wash, ie the heater microswitch being activated during the wash. Talking about the wash, the wash motor sounded fine and the spray arms moved when the door was swiftly opened.
I could not see any water or residue of water in the base to suggest any form of leak, that would activate the float that in turn would activate a microswitch. I even thought the drain pump may have been damaged so I tested this outside the machine when I removed the disc item, I could not at that time stop it from turning (I could but it was difficult).
Greg, where is the Aqua sensor (what is an Aqua sensor, or do you mean the diaphragm that activates the microwswitch to turn off the water inlet) and what is the Rx and Tx (I am a bit thick or its my age).
I appreciate your comments and I would like to be armed with as much info as possible when I return to this customer. Oh, one more thing does the 66 mean minutes?

Thanks for the PDF Greg, I opened it up the following day and I have just started to read it.
I see on page 11 it says the Aqua sensor is on a board, it does not mention where the board is, I assume by the way it works, the board may be near the water input or near the airbreak. Do you know if this board is replaceable (providing the board is on this model?)
Wendy (bless her) has booked the return call in for tomorrow, this will be fun?
Anyway, if you or anyone else has any suggestions or ideas on this I will be checking UKW on a regular basis for any replies.
Meanwhile I would like to thank you and Steve for the advice given and I will be checking and double checking things when I get there.

The “C” shaped pcb is on the sump and will pull out. Its just got one infra red tx LED and one rx LED, thats it. You can’t miss it 😉Greg

The problem may lie internally though, where the beam shines through the translucent housing, it may have some crud impeding the beam.
May need a good rodding, ooer 😆Greg

Greg, where is the board in the sump, on the right (heater side), left (air-break side) or front. Is it difficult to get to, or does the whole cavity have to be removed?
Silly questions maybe, but I will be short of time when I get to this one soooo, any help will do.

Its on the instantaneous water heater manfold which connects to the sump area.
That is what I meant to say in previous post (blonde moment, ‘cept Im a bit sparce in the hair area 😀 )Greg

Yea OT its not too bad.
You will need to (ideally workmate) put it on its back and remove base to gain full access.
Although a few hot washes usually flushes the crud out of most areas 😉 only need access if you need to change pcb (never had a faulty one in 10 years)Greg
