Hotpoint fridge freezer.Can someone please explain what does ,defrost food alert switch do . this is a switch,so what does it switch,it also has a holiday switch

It has a separate high temp alarm with light,this alarm i am asking about is a switch with a light on the other end of the top panel,saying defrost food alarm.
When i first put the fridge freezer on both were lit,after it got up to temp,the high temp alarm went off,but the defrost food alert was still on,until i switched it .
If this is the one you are on about sorry,i cant see why the two,where would i get an instruction book,thanksRe: ffs 70
hi, ill try to explain, the Defrost food alert warns the user when there has been a power cut, so they can check that the food has not defrosted, it will stay lit after a power failure until it is manually cancelled,(its not a switch that can turn anything on or off, just a cancel button) the high temp light is on whenever the freezer temp is above -12,
The holiday mode changes the fridge cut-in temp to a higher setting as it assumes there will be less food in the fridge whilst you are on holiday, it has no effect on the freezer settings though

Do these defrost within a 24 hour period.I have had a thermometer in freezer and it is constant -20,with no drop so when do they do a defrost

The Mistrels defrost after 10 to 12 hours,raising the freezer temp to around-5 should i see the same with this model

How can see if is defrosting? 😯
At compressor container where come water drainage tube from freezer. Take the tube out or put one extension on external pot and you will see after 24hours some water in (I do open and close freezer door from time to time in order to force him to bild up more ice on evaporator). 8)Don’t drink that… is not whisky!!! 😉
