Hello folks,
Just inherited this older Hoover Washer/Dryer. The drum is seized, but before it goes off to the dump, does anyone have any ideas on what I can check? I have taken off the rear panel and removed the drive belt.
The motor does run. The drum is almost impossible to turn by hand using the large plastic(?) pulley. I have pulled this pulley off after undoing the centre bolt – the bearing does not LOOK to be damaged or burnt out, but I am guessing that this is a sealed bearing – perhaps this means nothing?
I have pulled the pump feed hose off the bottom of the drum housing, there is a green plastic ball in there ( anti-siphon??), about the size of a ping pong ball. I can feel what I think is the heating element in the bottom of the housing, but nothing obviously jamming up the drum in the housing.
Apart from splitting the front off the housing by removing all of the clips, (looks like a lot of work) and seeing if something is wrapped around the drum, can anyone suggest any other avenues to explore? Any help gratefully received.
Many Thanks,
Pete
