ParticipantHello,
I have a whirlpool oven model AKP511/WH/02 and I need to replace the inner door fitting containing the fitted glass. I have purchased the replacement part but my question is how do I remove the old fitting ?
I can see there are 2 screws at the bottom of the door but I cant get access to them to unscrew them.
Do I have to remove the hinges? If so how do I do that?
I have failed in my search for an instruction manual, I got no instructions with the part and I’m now stuck 🙁 So I’m hoping there is somebody out there who has done this before and could maybe give me an idea of where to start?
Thanks in advance,

Taking the door off the oven will allow you total access. Each hinge will have a locking clip which you flip out in order to lock them.
Tube of this stuff would have been much cheaper:

thanks for getting back to me.
I ‘think’ I have now lifted up the clips you mention but they don’t seem to have done much. Do you think the hinge is attached to the door or to the oven?
I am afraid to use to much force, should it just slide out? or do I need to ‘lift & pull’ or wiggle it about a bit?
I dont seem to be getting anywhere fast with this 🙁

Check the link here:

Excellent Penguin45, just the link I needed.
Managed to get the door off in seconds. I did manage to put it back on again which was admittedly more difficult and took me several goes.
Turns out I will need to buy some of the glue you mentioned in a previous post too to join the new inner door to the outer door as I had thought that was only held by screws.
Anyway, I’m getting there slowly but surely.
Thanks again,
