I have just been to a job where the main oven motor was faulty, which I replaced, after reassembly the cooker tripped when the oven was switched on.
There are a number of strange things about this one as,firstly I discovered the main cooker on off switch wouldn’t click home fully,so this could have been the cause of tripping, and after removal and refitting the cooker now comes on,although the timer seems to be almost impossible to set and even with the auto flashing it starts the main oven motor to run on its own and the thermostat to be switched on and become live although the clock isn’t set!
could this be the trigger board, the clock itself?or has anyone got info on a wiring diagram for the model.
    thanks

would think it has to be either a clock fault or earth fault

i had one of these a while back and the timer had moved a fraction and shorted the live feed to the chassis as the insulation sleeve on that wire is very short and the wire is very very clse to the chassis, worth a check?

ok thanks for those tips I’ll give them a try ,does anyone know if the wiring diagrams are still available from hotpoint in the service manuals or not?or are we still not clever enough to be trusted with such a thing :rolls:
    LOL

    thanks all
