Participantappliance about 22 months old, Creda/hotpoint repaired under warrenty
TOC’S failed twice.same fault occured out of warrenty period..client unwilling to pay HPT callout fees.
I visited in Jan 2007..same thing no heat – 1 TOC shot it
replaced with WHITE TOC although replaced both as per HPT instructions.
was called mondat to same fault..same white TOC shot it
Question I am asking:
is there a common fault on this model to go 3 times in such a short while seems beyond reason, considering clients last T/D lasted 20 odd years, which was a Hotpoint..hence the loyalty to remain with HPT.
or was I given incorrect TOC’S from my supplier?
thanks
Graham

check she is cleaning filter
and not opening machine half way through program and then switching it straight off
element is hot and if there is no air flow it can over heat the stat
hense why they put a cooling down period at the end of the drying timeJune 28, 2007 at 1:24 pm #218747bobokines

Several of these suffer from a faulty capacitor. It tends to be intermittent so it can be a sod to diagnose. The drum stops to reverse and then doesn’t start again causing the TOC to cut out.

also make sure there is no earth fault on the machine, as the cycle stat operates on the neutral, so even if it cuts out the heater can still power live-earth

Hi i had one of these doing the same thing and it turned out to be the timer , the drum goes into reverse then instead of going forwards it goes into reverse again causing the stats to cut out. Changing the timer fixed the problem.

I very much doubt it, this is a CTD80 this machine does not have a timer. 😉
