ParticipantI have a bosch hss252a cooker i bought in germany, after a short while the oven failed to achieve any great heat.
There are two elements, one gets warm to hot and the other stays cold. i have had the cold element checked whilst in germany and it checks out OK, since returning to blighty i have not been able to chase the fault as the cooker is in storage.
It returns next week and would like some advice on how to tackle the fault and an idea where i can get parts for it.
Many thanks

Hi
Sounds like a selector fault ie damaged contacts.
Best thing to do is inspect selector contacts (power off of course) and see if there is anything obvious.
Also you could check wiring from duff element back to selector using a multimeter for continuity.Greg

Interesting….. top and bottom elements, fan, but no fan element. I’d think that one of the elements has failed. Simple resistance test required. The appliance shows up on the BSH website, so spares will be available, spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to supply for you.
Do this before you wire it up…… 😀

Yes, I must stop assuming 🙂
To clarify, grill element at top is a dual element and when appliance is switched to oven mode , half the element is activated along with the element under the floor of the oven cavity. Hope that clears that up. We await the OP’s reply 😀Greg

Thanks for the replies, I will make an effort to get the offending item out of storage and try all ideas which should be in the next week. When you say the selector, are you reffering to the control knob?
Any idea what kind of resistance I would expect when testing the elements, the reason I had the one tested was with the oven on it stayed stone cold?
Will keep you posted on the outcome of the checks.

Hi
Anywhere between 15 – 30 ohms would be normal.Greg

Have at last checked the elements, the two that are underneath the oven compartment have the following readings, middle pins 7 ohms and the outer pins read 38 ohms.
The grille element in the top of the oven is open cuirciut, and the control knob has good continueuity across the switches.
How do i check the thermostate to see if it good or does it look like the top element could be the cause…Cheers in advance.

If the top element is open circuit, I would say that is where your fault is.
