Trouble with capacity is…….. For years, we had 4.5kg load machines, and people might manage to stuff in 5kgs. Then we had 5kg machines and people start loading 6kg. Then 6kg let people force in 8kgs. It’s a cube thing, you see……….. Your good lady may well be able to get 12 kgs into your 8kg load machine.
But – when the laundry is soaked, the weight increases (typically) by a factor of 6. The 4.5kg load becomes 27kg, 5kg load is 30kg, so only 3kg overweight. The 8kg load should weigh 48kg, but overloading at 12 kg would produce a 72kg load – an overload of 24kg! A bit tough on the mechanicals.
