ParticipantFor some daft reason I steer clear of Miele machines. 😳
I always imagined that they are difficult to work on and that parts and information are not easily accessible.I worked on my first one today to remove a bra wire. I am impressed by the quality and I now wonder why I have not worked on them before.
Questions… Are most Miele washing machines built around the same basic design? Are parts readily available? Are Miele dishwashers a sod to work on?
There are loads of Miele machines in my area and no independant engineer will work on them. :rolls: I see an opening 😛

Very well engineered. easy to work at (i think) well i’m trained on them so i shud have some idea :rolls: .
Most washers are based on the same chassis, all are programmeable & can be updated etc, they have service programes to check faults etc..
Dishwashers are not to bad, although the dryer systen on the D’W can be a bitch, its a condenser system & the fans are not great. Apart from that, i think they are designed with the Engineer in mind.
All Miele machines have a circuit diagram inside with programme chart etc, Never fear the unknown, they’re no harder than any other machine.
Only drawback is that the parts are serious pricey.August 15, 2007 at 8:38 pm #224804bobokines

Thanks Seamy, I noticed the wiring diagram.
What sort of guarantee do they carry?
Although the parts are pricey, I think most customers will accept that you have to pay for quality. My labour charge is only a fraction of Miele’s call out!
I Think I will add Miele to my list from today.

The biggest problem is the cost of the parts (and lack of trade discount unless you can pull strings better than I could) and the fact that many will go ahead with repairs at a cost that seems rediculously high. Therefore you will end up fitting £250 boards so you need to make sure diagnosis is correct. Yes there is a circuit diagram inside, assuming another engineer has replaced it, but other than that there is zilch tech info out there. Can have a few problems that need pc link to put right. but a lot of pumps, heaters, blockages and currently a whole heap of belts splitting (£30 odd a go!)

Not quite correct. 😉
I have a fair dollop of Miele technical information that found it’s way out of Miele’s hands and into my grubby mits, probably a good couple of thousand pages of it. I have yet to go through it and index it but, needless to say, some of the information found its way into the fault code guide. If I do another fault code guide then I’m pretty sure that more of it will leak into that little book.
I also have a fair bit of diagnostics and reset, without the need for a laptop although I do think that the later machines of the past couple of years do need the laptop totally.
Of course, due to copyright restrictions, I cannot copy it but I can re-write it. That however, takes a lot of time especially as I’ve never worked on Miele so that just increases the time as I have to understand it first.

2 Year Guarantee as standard, some 5 year, some 10 year depending on the machine.
Now that you’ve shaken off the nervousness about going near them..
theres money to be made servicing commercial Miele machines found in B&Bs, hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, laundries etcAugust 24, 2007 at 3:30 pm #224809andy2

The only Meile machines i have repaired have been fairly old machines that had a hinged front panel, do newer machines still have this feature?
