HITACHI Sales (M) Sdn Bhd expects its latest range of washing machines and refrigerators to help boost the company’s turnover by about 25% to RM200mil for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2004.
Its managing director Shigeharu Annaka said the new household appliances could not be expected to contribute significantly to the current year’s turnover seeing that it was already late in the year.
“But we expect sales to be good next year,” he told reporters after the launch of Hitachi’s new models of washing machines and refrigerators in Kuala Lumpur on Friday.
The new washing machines range in price from RM480 to RM1,920, while the refrigerators are from RM675 to RM2,540.
The new washing machine features an innovative air jet system that helps dry clothes 30% faster than conventional washing machines.
Annaka said most of the washing machines and refrigerators were manufactured at the company’s factory in Thailand.
