Hi can anyone help I have been out to a wpl AWZ412 washer dryer that did not empty.
After taking the blank out of the drain spigot all was ok.
I ran a functional test on the machine and it would not spin!

Fills ok on all wash/rinse programmes

    Heats on wash

Empties on “E” drain & slow spin but not spin

Slow aggitation on “B” drain & spin but does not empty or spin

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks John

put drain hose into bucket or bowl..select drain/spin..water should whoosh out, listen to see if drain pump is working or just humming either there is a blockage on the way to the drain pump or the pump is jammed or faulty.

Thanks for your prompt reply Richard, the pump is working fine and
empties all water out but will not spin.

Prog B (drain & spin) is the only point that it will not empty

POWER OFF… check wiring to timer, if ok will the beast spin if you select spin only or rinse spin only. if it does drain the spin on these progs it may be the timer as it only fails on prog B. ps the timer it tricky to get off if you need to check wiring or look for burt tracks..even then there may be no evidence as a component in/on the timer may have failed…i would not recommend that you either order a timer as a chance nor try and change it yourself….finally run w/m without a load in on spin to see if it does spin if it does , then with load in if it doesn’t could be worn brushes.

    Richard

thanks for your reply, I have checked all the wiring and apart from
one scuffed area adjacent to the blower motor all seems ok.
The timer looks ok, so does the module.

As this is the first time I have seen this particular model,I just wondered if anyone had come across this fault before, and could shed some light on if it was more likley to be the mod or timer?

ps I dont think I would have lasted for more then 20 years in the trade if I didnt “POWER OFF” before delving inside an appliance.

It’s just a Merloni in a frock, so may well not spin without a load.

It’s a post in the Trade Forums. We do enjoy a jolly good laugh if people own up to blowing themselves up. I have done it, and have had it done to me. But, being Pros, it’s up to the OP how they choose to test.

Now, if you all want to join in, please be very rude to this person:

who’s approach is just downright dangerous and he’s a Scot as well.

*Waits for the wrath of Kilmarnock to descend on his head*.

    Simon’s reply is just so understated……….. 😀

    Richard, no offence taken.

Chris, no spin loaded or not.

I have the machine in the workshop now, and hope to have a closer look asap.

Finally got around to repairing this m/c, took the timer off checked all

    contacts and wiring, no faults.
