Three year old machine – been working fine till now ( apart from occasional squeaking drum on startup sometimes. ) Now when switched on, programme selected and start button pressed it runs for a few seconds then stops, lights go out and then back on with start button flashing. When this problem first started it would sometimes run if a different programme was selected – sometimes for the full prog and sometimes only part. Now it just aborts when prog started and returns to pre-start state. I had thought it might be a cable break shorting out under applied load on startup but have disconnected appliance from spur, fitted plug, manipulated cable and still the same problem. I’m stuck!!

Hi, got it sorted. While looking at a post from VFL07 ( Aug 31 3.53am ) re a Zanussi washer dryer with electrical probs Penguin45 suggested a dry joint as one possibility. In light of my original ( erroneous! ) thoughts about a cable break it made me have a look at the board and ” Bingo” there it was the little devil. All sorted now and wife pleased its working but disappointed she’s not getting a new machine!
