    Hello,

I have got a Panasonic microwave (and grill and oven) model NNA755W.

I noticed whilst cooking that some steam seemed to be escaping from under the door. Are there any vents down there? I would not have thought so. So this makes me worry that the steam is leaking from under the door, and I worry that if steam can escape, can microwaves?

I suppose I need to get someone to look at the door. What’s a call out charge these days? If the door needs replacing, what is an average cost, or is it cheaper to get a new oven?

I can’t see any obvious damage to the door. It would seem silly to bin it if it is perfectly all right. Any suggestions on what to do next? Do engineers have a “microwave leak detector”?

Re: Panasonic microwave NNA755W door problem

Firstly there are no exhaust vents under the door. If steam is escaping it doesn’t automatically mean the microwave energy is escaping…the microwaves actually need quite a large gap to escape 😀

The door is not replaceable as a single spare part but is available in seperate individual parts however i suspect the problem lies elsewhere…

The machine has an internal fan which should pipe the air through the cabinet, into the cavity and out through the vent at the rear.

If steam is escaping from the front then there is a problem with the ventilation…most likely the damper has stuck inside preventing the air from getting into the cavity, probably not a big job and well worth doing.

…and yes, the engineer should do a standard leak test with every repair whether to the door or not.

As to prices these will obviously vary up and down the country so find an engineer and just ask first 😉

You might find a MW engineer on the link below ¬
