    there is a fan motor that has a capacitor on it how do you test the capacitor

    You can’t easily test it but if you suspect it has failed then get a replacement from Maplins or RS as it is not available as a replacement from Hotpoint. 🙁

    On the other I wonder why you wish to test it anyway? They never fail in my experience. :rolls:

    The fan motor can seize up due to bearing failure or fluff build-up but even then only rarely does that happen! The more usual reason a fan motor doesn’t work is that the 2 wires to it break due to vibration. 😉

    I have changed three or four of these Martin, I always save the capacitors when changing a motor.
