    Hi,

First post. Appreciate any help offered.

I am looking to change original thermostat in my Hotpoint RF64P to an RS one that can hold temp at 13C so I can mature beer and cheese!

The problem I have is that my new thermostat has the following connections

    C – permanent positive
    1 – closed circuit – for heating
    2 – open circuit – for cooling
    E – earth

Does anyone know what the wiring is for a RF64P and what wires to connect to which terminal. I’m assuming Brown to C and Green and yellow to Earth.

    ANy help much appreciated.

    Thanks

Okay, unless you know what you’re doing stop right where you are before you do damage.

For a start you can’t alter the temperatures inside the cabinet outside of the spec range using standard stats and, even changing the stat to another type you’re not going to make a blind bit of difference to it, unless you want everything either frozen solid or not cooled.

Unless you replace with a pukka calibrated stat to the temperature range you desire you’re not going to get anywhere here with off the shelf, unmodified stuff.

Sorry if that’s not what you wanted to hear, hope it helps though even if it is to save wasting time. 😕

    hi,

thanks for the reply. the new stat is one that is calibrated to hold between 0-40C. I just need a common live, earth and a switched live to it don’t I?
